Armorial bookplate on front pastedown (John Hamilton) with some offsetting to front free endpaper. Dampstains to text block edge have marked some page edges including some plates. Occasional foxing and thumbing. Green marks pp. 224-225 in vol. 1. Some brown marks on p. 205 in vol. 2 have affected pp. 204-207.

This is a greatly expanded version of the earlier Topographical Description of Lower Canada (1813). Bouchette was Surveyor General of Lower Canada from 1804 to 1841, during which time he worked on important projects such as determining the US-Lower Canada boundary. His work, based on years of travel and observation, is of primary historical and geographical significance. The views and plans in this book include Montreal, Frederiction, Quebec City, Fort Chambly, Goderich, and many more. Lande 1594-95. Sabin 6848-6851 (mistakenly calls for 33 plates).
