London: Printed for John Stockdale, 1806. Hardcover. Second edition of the Gough translation. Four volumes. Large folio. Half vellum and marbled papercovered boards, leather spine labels. Modest wear to the extremities, scattered foxing in each volume, light tidemarks to the margins of a few plates. A very handsome and imposing set. 57 maps, many folding (including a folding chart); 106 plates. The landmark history and geography of Great Britain, Gough's version was first published in 1789, translated from the last Latin edition of 1607. The maps are drawn by E. Noble and engraved by John Cary. *Chubb* p220. *Fordham* p30.
