About This Item
Garden City, NY:: Doubleday,, 1973.. Hardcover first edition -. Near fine in a brown cloth spine with gilt lettering over black boards in a very good dust jacket (minor edgewear to dj, original price of 6.95 on dj flap.). First printing. Mano's only science fiction novel and a controversial satirical and dystopian take on what the future could be. The dust jacket calls this "a novel about the last man on earth" but it is actually a novel of environmentalism gone beyond any reasonable bounds - "Set in 2035 CE, where draconian attempts to combat environmental pollution have created a Dystopia, and where a convert to Christianity misunderstands the nature of that Religion and becomes a cannibal." (Encyclopedia of Science Fiction). Surprisingly uncommon in the first edition. 240 pp. Dust jacket by Paul Bacon.
