About This Item

Sydney: Pan Macmillan, 2009. 1st ed.. Paperback octavo, very good condition, sepia (brown-tinted) & colour photos, corner tip one page creased (bookmark), minor edgewear. 342 pp. A memoir by Jane Stork about her life after she became devoted to the Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. She changed her name, wore the orange robes of a sannyasin, and moved her family to live first in an ashram in India and then in the Bhagwan-created city of Rajneeshpuram in Oregon, USA. Jane sacrificed her marriage and children, and eventually - through an act of attempted murder - her freedom. This incredible true story is a profound meditation on the nature of self-determination and the human spirit’s capacity for redemption. (1 of 2 available copies.).
