Binding of light tan marbelized cloth with dark brown panel on backstrap gilt titled; bottom edges rubbed; faint downward curve to lower front corner, spine heel compressed, faint lean to spine. Tight and solid sewn binding. Endpapers have tape marks from when jacket was taped to boards. Frontspiece: Dunfermline Abbey: The Bruce, in gold and black tones. Pages fine--very clean and free from any markings, lightly toned. Gold and white jacket is clean on front, rubbed down fold-over edge, back side lightly soiled along upper edge and part of fold-over edge. An authoritative introduction to the fascinating subject of Monumental Brasses-how to date and classify, emphasizing the exquisite artistry and decorative value, relating them to an historical background.
