"When his best friend dies in a plane crash, sixteen-year-old Ken has a ritual performed that will make him invulnerable, but soon learns that he had good reason to be suspicious of the woman he paid to lock his soul away." Inscription is as excellently cool as it's possible to be when one considers the subject matter and intended audience: "For Stephen--/Don't read this!/For your own good.../William Sleator/1.15.2005". Mocha boards w/black cloth backstrip w/silver foil spine lettering, 162 pages + brief author biography. Appears unread (apparently Stephen took Sleator's inscription seriously), in scuffed dust jacket w/scratch to bottom of rear panel (does not affect text), a hint of wear to corners/spine ends. Scarce in first edition and signed..
