Book #5 in what would become a 14-series of adventures for boys by Gordon Stuart (pseudonym of Harry Lincoln Sayler in this popular series for boys published 1912-1922 in the early years following the formation of the Boy Scouts in 1908. In 247 pp, glossy frontispiece by Norman P. Hall. A FIRST EDITION, slightly later printing (listing to book #10 in the series on back DJ), this hardcover 8vo has brown cloth over boards decorated & lettered in orange & black to front cover & spine. Condition is VG+: very clean & crisp, binding straight & strong, hinges intact, pages creamy white with surprisingly mild tanning, completely unmarked save for old gift inscription dated 1922 to ffep, former owner's bookplate inside front cover. Dust dulling & a few light spots to outside page edges. The price-clipped DJ is graded Poor because it is missing most of the spine, but the front & back cover images are wonderfully intact, with light soil & chipping; nicely protected in new mylar cover free!
