Charming, antique ornithology book for children - "The Boy and the Birds" by Emily Taylor. Early edition from 1837 (first published in 1835). The book contains brief sketches - with illustrations - about 16 different birds including the eagle, owl, puffin, cuckoo, woodpecker, falcon, etc.
Condition:
Clean covers and spine with no stains or scratches; tiny cloth tears to corner tips; bright gilt lettering on the front cover. Tight binding. Partial crack at front hinge. No loose pages. Inscription dated 1839 on front end paper. The text pages have foxing throughout (see photos); no writing or tears found.
