New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2010 & 2011. First Edition. Hardcover in Dust Jackets. Very Good. 4to (each 480 pages, illustrated). Signed. A limited number of slipcased “HAT BOXES” were issued by Knopf on the occasion of the publication of “LOOK, I MADE A HAT: Collected Lyrics (1981-2011),” the companion volume to “FINISHING THE HAT: Collected Lyrics (1954-1981).” This “HAT BOX” is signed in black ink on the slipcase by Stephen Sondheim. It contains mint dust jacketed copies of both volumes. Volume I, “FINISHING THE HAT,” is a second printing of the First Edition and is unsigned. Volume II, “LOOK I MADE A HAT,” is a First Edition signed in ink by Mr. Sondheim on the half-title page. These sets were signed exclusively for Chartwell Booksellers by Mr. Sondheim at the time of publication.

Synopsis

Stephen Sondheim has written award-winning music and lyrics for theater, film and television. He is also the coauthor of the film The Last of Sheila and the play Getting Away with Murder. Sondheim is on the council of the Dramatists Guild of America, having served as its president from 1973 to 1981. He lives in New York City.
