About This Item

Bristol: John Wright, 1887 Book. Good. Full-Leather. Bound volume of three works by Agrikler. 1] Poems, humorous and philosophical by Agrikler. A new series with the latest additions. Bristol: John Wright; [1887?] viii, 165, [3] pages + frontispiece and 12 plates. Preliminary pages misbound. Bound with 2] Poems, humorous and philosophical By Agrikler. New series. London: Griffith & Farran. iv, 140 pages + 13 plates. Bound with 3] Rhymes in the West Country dialect by Agrikler. Fourth edition. London: Houlston and Sons. iv, 124 pages + 12 plates. Bound together in full leather, gilt decorated and lettered to the front board and lettered to the spine. Leather lightly rubbed and the spine is lightly faded and a bit dulled. Pages are all edges gilt. The first title is dated from "The valedictory" on page viii. Pencil note to the head of the first title page - Morocco binding. The plates are printed illustrations glued onto blank pages which have been bound in, presumably as extra illustrations. The pages with the illustrations on are wrinkled, soiled and creased, most of them are also browned and spotted. Pages near the illustrations are also browned, some heavily so. Agrikler is identified on Library Hub as being the pseudonym for Joseph Edwards, and this matches the name under the frontispiece of the first title..
