London, England: John Murray, 1876. Decorative Cloth. Good. This edition was originally published in 1847 as a correction of the editions of 1835 and 1831, and also includes some of Johnson's correspondence with Mrs. Thrale and his Notes on a Tour of Wales. Octavo, 9 3/4" tall, frontispiece and illustrated title page, xxx + 874 pages + 10 engraved illustrations; gilt titles and decorations on brown cloth. A good, generally clean and sturdy volume overall with moderate shelf wear and rubbing, fore-corner tips worn through to boards BUT with significant chipping to the spine cloth which is frayed and missing the bottom four inches; interior very good however, with hinges and bindings solid, paper lightly yellowed.
