Macgibbon and Kee. First edition and first print published by Macgibbon & Kee in 1966. This is a near fine copy. The wrapper is usually prone to creases and wear. This wrapper has only minor and occasional creases to the panels and spine. The text block is free from foxing as are the pages. There is no foxing or spotting and no ink except for an inscription from the author, dated in the year of publication and also on the title page where he has signed his name. Overall a near fine copy. Alfie tells the story of a young womanising man who leads a self-centred life, purely for his own enjoyment, until events force him to question his uncaring behaviour, his loneliness and his priorities. A film starring Michael Caine was released later on in 1966 to much acclaim. A rare title to find in such nice condition and signed by the author. . Near Fine. The fragile jacket is unclipped displaying the correct price of 10s 6d. net. There are a number of tiny tears along the edges and wear to the spine ends. The second borrowers adventure by Mary Norton. Published off the back of publishing and critical success of the classic first novel. The Borrowers has since been adapted by the BBC as a children's tv series and as a film in 1997 starring John Goodman. The second novel has become quite an uncommon book to find as a first edition. . The price on the spine is showing as 6'- net. The book in red boards has sunning to the spine ends and the corners are lightly rubbed. The first couple of pages have a patch of browning. There are no foxing marks though to the pages or text blocks and no previous owners ink. Overall a very good copy. The unusual and rarely found dust wrapper shows a map of Russia covered in darkness.
