Bound in light blue cloth, a stem of flowers in gold on the front board, with unclipped dw, 80 coloured plates, 22 b/w illustrations, 236pp. Chapters include, " The Soil ", " The Site and its Preparation " and " Designing and Maintaining the Herbaceous Border ". It describes only plants which (at the time of publication) were in general cultivation and available to the amateur and professional alike. Some patches of fading at the tips of the spine, dw has been repaired.
