About This Item

Heritage Press, 1962. Special Edition . Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. Valenti Angelo. Hard Cover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Valenti Angelo (illustrator). First Edition Thus. First published in 1888, Burton's "Arabian Nights" competed with that of John Payne; they are considered the only complete translations of the Arabian Nights tales. Due to the erotic content, initially both were printed as Private Editions to avoid the censorship then in force. Reprint the issue by the Limited Editions Club in 1934. One book, containing volumes V and VI. Extremely attractive books, with decorative paper-covered boards in red, black and light green; tan cloth spines titled in gilt. Absolutely clean and fresh. Fine volumes, crisp as if unread. Present are the black slipcovers, undamaged in any way. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
