Published by John van Voorst, London, 1886, 1st edition. Green cloth boards, gilt lettering to spine and front board. Black decorative borders to front board, bevelled edges. No dustwrapper.10ins x 7.75ins, xi, (i), 214pp, 2pp book adverts plus colour frontis and 13pp colour plates (2 folding), as required. Also 16 black and white illustrations within the text. Signature of previous owner to half title page and also to title page. One of the folding plates had a tear which has been repaired to the verso with no loss. Corners a little worn otherwise VG / VG.
