Edinburgh: Sir D. Hunter Blair and J. Bruce, 1823 . Leather. Very Good. 6.5" by 3.5". None. A leather-bound book of common prayer, according to the use of the United Church of England and Ireland. Bound in full calf, with gilt detailing. This 'Book of Common Prayer' is comprised of guidance for administering the sacraments and rites of the United Church of England and Ireland, also containing the Psalms of David to be sung or said in churches. With additional information on the service for Church, the order for reading scripture and morning and evening prayer. 'A Companion to the Altar showing the Nature and Necessity of a Sacramental Preparation' and 'The Psalms of David' have been bound in to the work, both dated 1824, with the latter being compiled by Nicholas Brady and Nahum Tate, who was poet laureate to his majesty. With an ink inscription of Robert Cooper Tattnall, from his godfather Robert Cooper, dated 1823. In full calf binding, with gilt detailing. Externally, smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and joints. Light bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot. Ink inscription and light markings to the front blank. Very Good
