About This Item

Light rub to the jacket, else a fine copy in an archival protective sleeve. 156 ages with References, Appendixes, and Index. Several illustrations, including the frontispiece of Palm. The life of Swedish immigrant Svante Palm, who played important roles in Texas in civic, commercial, cultural, and political life. His true passion, though, was for book collecting. He donated his private library to the University of Texas in 1897, the Swedish portion of which remains as a unique document that contains many rare and valuable volumes from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Provided in this book are a bibliography of the 17th and 18th century items and a bilingual edition of Palm's own account of his emigration to America..
