Everthing you’d ever want to know about the making of and the reaction to the acclaimed and controversial film, Bonnie and Clyde, directed by Arthur Penn, starring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Michael Pollard, Gene Hackman, Estelle Parsons, and Gene Wilder (in his first film role). Includes two introductory essays; one by Arthur Penn, “Private Integrity and Public Violence” and the other by the screenwriters of the film, David Newman and Robert Benton, entitled “Lightning in a Bottle”. The entire screenplay is printed in the book, as well as interviews with Arthur Penn and Warren Beatty, who also produced the film. Additionally, there is a collection of critcal essays by Pauline Kael, Judith Crist, Andrew Sarris, and others. Bonnie and Clyde won two Oscars; one for Best Cinematography for Burnett Guffey, and the other for Best Supporting Actress for Estelle Parsons.
