First--and best known--work, "a novel of young love & old desires,'' from the award-winning French author & playwright, published when she was just starting out at age 18 during one August when she had dropped out of the Sorbonne. Translated from the original French by Irene Ash & first published by Dutton in this English-language edition in Feb. 1955, this is the Third Printing of that FIRST EDITION from March of that same year. This slim hardcover in red publisher's cloth over boards with blind stamping to front, git lettering & design to spine, in128 pages, is in VG+ condition: very clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages off-white with mild tanning, heavier around edges. Light foxing to endpapers & top outside page edges.
