About This Item

New York: The Crime Club, 1947. Pp. 288, full page plan; black cloth, spine lettered and decorated in red, boards a trifle marked and flecked, fore-corners lightly worn, the spine slightly frayed at head and with faint vertical crease; fore-edges uncut; dust wrapper, slightly cropped (being one cm. smaller than the boards), the flaps lightly soiled and foxed, edges a trifle rubbed; text block slightly browned, corners of a few leaves faintly creased, a little light foxing and occasional faint soiling; published for the Crime Club by Doubleday & Company, New York, 1947. First U.S. edition? [see footnote]. Loder p. 232. *The sixth Bony book, set on an inland pastoral station, and involving a migratory rabbit plague. Originally published by Angus & Robertson, Sydney, in 1938, followed by a British edition (published by Hamilton) in 1939. This American edition does not contain the endpaper plan included in the Australian and British editions, but has a different version of the plan at page 8, before the first chapter of text. Although it is described by the publishers on the copyright page as the first [American] edition, a Unicorn Mystery Book Club edition also exists, dated New York, 1946.
