New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1928. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo. SIGNED LIMITED FIRST EDITION, signed by Asbury to limitations page, #3/160. Quarter orange cloth, green textured paper boards with gilt goblet vignette to front board. Green ribbon marker. Unopened, roughly cut edges. li, 170 pp. Spine faded, rubbing to extremities, scuffing to boards, wear to corners. Significant paper repairs with tape to head of dedication page. Jerry THomas was formerly the Principal Bartender at the Metropolitan Hotel, New York, and at the Planters' House, St. Louis. Herbert Asbury was an author and journalist, best known for his books about American crime, including The Gangs of New York, which was loosely adapted into a film by Martin Scorsese in 2002.
