Norwalk, CT: The Easton Press, [2007]. Two parts in one vol. 8vo. 213, [1]; 180 pp. With numerous maps, plans. Full dark brown leather, elaborate gilt decorated borders, raised bands, gilt lettering on spine, silk moire endpapers, a.e.g. (minor scuffing to front fore-edge to gilt), still a NF copy, w/ Easton Press Collector’s Notes leaf laid-in, from the library of Robert A. Taylor, w/ bookplate on front pastedown. First Easton Press Edition of these works first released as two volumes, the first detailing the famed Prime Minister’s experiences during the height of the Boer War in South Africa. He recounts the campaign, describes his capture and escape from the POW camp in Pretoria, and afterwards the campaign in Natal, and operations for the relief of Ladysmith. Issued as part of Easton’s “Military History” series.
