London; Chatto & Windus, 1969., 1969. Hard Cover. SIGNED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 224. Publishers' bright blue cloth with gilt titles to spine in unclipped pink pictorial dust-jacket by Ionicus. Cover cloth clean and bright with slight creasing to head of spine; contents crisp with tidy Author's signature to title page, without dedication. Jacket slightly surface soiled to white panels, with minor creasing to edge. A Near Fine copy in Very Good jacket. Collection of ten short stories by the master storyteller (1900-1997). Pritchett himself said that the short story is "above all a memorable art" and here he "presents a series of pictures which are indeed unforgettable" (from jacket front flap).
