About This Item
London: Grant Richards, 1923. First Edition. Hard Cover. First UK Edition. Publisher's variant brown cloth front and spine panels stamped in black, bottom edge untrimmed. One of 2,000 copies. Quite scarce in the UK Edition especially in the variant brown cloth. Other first edition copies have also been seen bound in blue cloth. Slightly soft spine tips otherwise a near fine copy with, interestingly, none of the usual darkening to the end-papers (sometimes encountered). Contains the author's best short story "The Three Dead Men" about detective Michael Duveen (Queen's Quorum).
