The science fiction writer's 4th book, a novel about revenge & a black motor car that is "so fast it cannot be caught." In 339 pages with glossy frontispiece (with intact tissue guard) + 5 internal illustrations by Charles Grunwald. A FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1905 (the American one, though copyrighted the year previous), this hardcover 12 mo has deep green publisher's cloth with a fabulous design stamped in black & yellow of a vintage motorcar, black lettering to front & spine. Condition is Good+: generally quite clean, text block secure, but both hinges are cracked. Pages off-white, with age-appropriate tanning, heavier to edges & endpapers. Former owner's name & date (1915) in pen to ffep, else unmarked. Rubbing to extremities, bumped corners & spine tips. No DJ.
