Dust jacket has light chipping at spine ends and corners; some minor general soiling; G&D catalog on reverse side; advert for Earl Derr Biggers mystery novels on rear panel; in an archival mylar sleeve. pp. 312, plus [10] ads. 1931 photoplay edition (published without photo stills), issued to coincide with the release of the Fox film which starred Warner Oland as Charlie Chan and Bela Lugosi as Tarneverro. [Stated copyright is 1929.]

Synopsis

This book is a murder mystery set in Honolulu. Shelah Fane, the Hollywood star, has come to Hawaii to finish the filming of her latest movie. When she is stabbed to death in her beach house, Charlie Chan is called in to investigate. His movie-struck children are thrilled. Other characters include Shelah's wealthy suitor, her young protegee, a Hollywood fortune-teller, a young man from the Tourist Bureau, a beachcomber and an assortment of actors.
