About This Item

Free Press, New York, 2008. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. the book is 2nd hand, it and its dustjacket show no signs of damage. The traditional image of Europe in 1945 is of grateful citizens showering soldiers with flowers and dancing in the streets. In reality, it was an extremely violent and chaotic process. Your thoughts beyond the conventional images the experiences of ordinary civilians and soldiers. The author shows that the behaviour of the allied forces was far from Noble, and also writes of the discovery of concentration camps, and the often shocking lack of empathy shown by the liberators.
