About This Item
Philadelphia: John C. Winston Company, 1906. First Edition, First Printing. Cloth. Very Good/Good. 5 1/4 X 7 1/2 Inches. 644 PP. First edition copy of Moore's highest regarded literary effort. Signed and inscribed on the FFEP by Moore. Housed in a chipped and worn jacket that has served the purpose of protecting the beautiful cloth illustrated binding. Moore, who was born in Alabama, lived in Tennessee for most his life. Includes an early fictional account of the Battle at Franklin during the Civil War. Moore was head of the Tennessee State Archives and Library for a number of years. He was a fan of the Ku Klux Klan and of public lynchings. His books reflect a fantacized romantic history of the South that often included African Americans, Native Americans (Indigenous People) and Bluegrass... A bit of foxing throughout. Light wear to spine ends.
