London: J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd, 1919. First Edition. Octavo (20cm.); original grey pictorial cloth embossed in gilt; ix,[1],274pp.; color frontispiece & 7 plates. Boards a bit dust-soiled, extremities rubbed with small losses at corners, spine toned; contents about fine. Very Good overall. "This book is more than a mere reprint of Birds in a Village published in 1893. The first portion of the old book has been mostly re-written with some fresh matter added; and for the concluding portion of it, entirely new matter has been substituted" (WILSON 35).
