About This Item
London: Collins, 1969. A first edition, first printing published by Collins in 1969. A near fine book without inscriptions - inscribed on the endpaper /For/Vivien/who has translated so much for us/with best wishes/Gerry Durrell'. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some wear to the spine tips and corners. An unusually difficult book to find - the second instalment of 'The Corfu Trilogy' by Durrell and rare to find so warmly inscribed.
Synopsis
Part coming-of-age autobiography and part nature guide, Gerald Durrell’s dazzling sequel to My Family and Other Animals is based on his boyhood on Corfu, from 1933 to 1939. Originally published in 1969 but long out of print, Birds, Beasts, and Relatives is filled with charming observations, amusing anecdotes, boyhood memories, and childlike wonder.
