Gift Ink inscription on front end paper dated 1938. Dust jacket nibbled, odd small pieces missing, contents clean and bright. "About half the book deals with Bowers’ Antarctic trip. Extensive quotations from other sources, primarily Cherry-Garrard’s Worst Journey . . . (in which much of Bowers’ Pole Trip diary was first published) and much from Bowers’ weekly letters home.
