The boards are shelf rubbed, edge worn and have been marked with pen, but they remain strong and sturdy despite this. Internally, there is no front end page (as issued) and there are a previous owner's signatures on the front and rear pastedowns, but there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat and complete. Published by Oxford University Press, 1943. 1st edition.. Hardback. Good/Good. Illustrated by Tresilian, Stuart. Almost very good condition in a good dustwrapper. Green cloth. Palm tree, plane & aircraft carrier vignette to front. Title to spine. Colour frontis. 4 b/w illustrations. 185 pages. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. There is light damp(?) staining to the lower half of the spine and front cover - not particularly noticeable. Heavy foxing, mainly at first few and last few pages and also textblock. Some grubby fingermarks to page margins and some page corner tips creased. Dustwrapper is edge worn and torn with loss to spine ends and corners (tape repairs on verso). Rear panel of wrapper is grubby.
