About This Item

All are 1st Printings with 1st state DJ.
#1. THE BIG SKY 1947/1st Printing STATED,VG,SIGNED 1st leaf name only. light rubbing, light soiling, minor loss of grey decor/letting, bookplate.1st leaf Author signature, and previous blindmark bottom. DJ Poor with chunks missing spine ends, moisture stain back cover, tape stains both flaps. but there is a DJ. and it is 1st state with both $3.50 front and rear flaps.

#2 THESE THOUSAND HILLS,VG+, Stated First Printing Nov 1956,SIGNED on the first leaf(signature only). The only defects are on the bottom of the spine are 2 weak spots, not complete tears for this is VG+ and a line(sometimes it is not there but once seen you know it is there it is not a crease, but something. DJ has edge wear rubbing and soiling, price intact. Rubbed chipping on the extreme edges VG.

#3. THE LAST VALLEY 1975 full print line with 1, I don't see any defects except 2 bottom corners are weak. DJ and it makes up for it. There are 2 tears front cover bottom(taped) 1 top corner, 2 on the rear, soiling to rear panel and light rubbing front, price intact.

#4. ARFIVE vg+ or better 1971 main title page 1970 copyright page but state First Printing. A small stain, less than a dime size bottom inside cover and 1st leaf, light bruise spine ends. The DJ might be sunned a small bit on the spine, price intact.

#5 THE WAY WEST 1949, STATED First Printing, Bluish Green cloth spine with silver lettering all intact. If I could find an ink pen or marker close to the color there would be no defects I can see, instead of rubbing to extreme points. No markings, just a touch of age toning. DJ: these are very fragile and easy for rubbing, very little one 1 1/2 inch tear top front cover near the spine(I think I did that 25 years ago before I could get it in mylar, small amount of chipping bottom spine, and very minor shelf wear to the DJ edges not the book. Light soiling and a stain bottom near spine This book is the one you want for the Pulitzer collection but the hard-to-find mates would make it a shame to bust-up so I will not. And placed inside Arfive is a clean book sheet signed by the author.

not picture IS THE LAST IN THIS GROUP BY THE AUTHOR(the Big Sky series)..: #6 FAIR LAND, FAIR LAND 1982 houghton mifflin,1st Ed. light bruising to the spine ends and the top page ends near the spine looks like scratching to try and form a name? is not bad enough to make it out. The DJ may have some rubbing but it is under brodart to protect it.

Included but not picture are 2 of the Western series by this author #1 Murder in the Cotswolds,1989,houghton mifflin, 1st print, little age toned, a small bum here and there and a small drop stain top edge, price intact overall a Very Good copy and DJ. #2. Playing Catch-Up,1985,Houghton Mifflin,1st Printing,Umarked, unread, and very square, DJ has minor edge wear mainly on the spine ends. Book is Near Fine in case I missed something.

This is a living collection which means if I can spot any other books at a fairly low cost I will add them, mostly at no added cost to this collection. But they maybe a paperback. There has been a first(which is not in his list of books) for $200 but I'll wait, somebody will get wise and print it, again. But with a name like his it would have to be his.

UPDATE: Another added. The Big It, 1960, 4th Printing, VG+ Shelf wear DJ and rubbing chips extreme edges mainly the spine ends and soiling, good DJ price intact.

About Pulitzer Prize Books.com

I am a private collector, mainly Pulitzer Prize winners, but I inherited 1000's of hardcovers and looking to sell them off. I will be relocating in the near future, and need to lighten the load.
