London: Weidenfeld & Nicholson, 1978. A first edition, first printing published by Weidenfeld & Nicholson in 1978. Signed by the author with dedication on the title page. A near fine + copy with slight spotting to the text block. Clean internally. Scratching can be seen on the front board. Slight bumping to the head and base of the spine. and bottom edge. In a like unclipped wrapper with chipping to the head of the spine. Slight rubbing to the rear cover. Spotting can be seen to the inside of the spine. Moscow, January 1977. Eric Newby and his wife Wanda board The Russia, at Yaroslavl station, at the start of its near 6000 mile trans Siberian train journey to the Far East Pacific coast of Russia. The train would traverse seven time zones and take eight days to get there. A travel book full of historical insight.
