The first trade edition of this large book of fables edited by Walter Jerrold and decorated by Charles Robinson. The first trade edition of this work, an anthology of fables edited by Walter Jerrold. An extensive volume with numerous fables, including some classics such as 'A Frog and a Mouse', 'The Use of Knowledge,' and 'A Hen and Golden Eggs'. Illustrated by the noted British artist Charles Robinson in text throughout, as well as with twenty-eight full page coloured plates. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's full cloth binding with decorative gilt to the front board and spine. Externally rather worn with shelf wear and chipping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, minor marking to the rear board. The front joint is slightly strained, holding firm. The volume slightly tender. With a light foxing scattered throughout, particularly to the first and last few leaves. Illustrated by the noted British artist Charles Robinson in text throughout, as well as with twenty-eight full page coloured plates. Collated, complete.  Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
