A quarto. Original bright red cloth binding with gilt to spine. Covers are clean, corners toed-in slightly. Interior clean and unmarked. Quite scarce. The paper is watermarked Notre Dame, and the photos are handmounted onto the paper, not in WorldCat (altho the companion volume on British universities is). Rt. Rev. Gabriel was a Hungarian priest and medievalist who fled Hungary, and was at Pontifical Institute in Toronto before moving to Notre Dame in Indiana where he was a Fellow of the Mediaeval Academy of America. He was heavily involved in creating bibliographies of medieval universities and colleges and thought that the project was worthwhile enough that it should be expanded to more modern times and to the New World. Heavy for international shipping. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 217 pages .
