About This Item
Washington, DC: American University Museum, Katzen Arts Center, 2010. Softcover. VG. Color illus. wraps; Unpaginated, approx. 30 pp.; 2 gatefolds; Profusely illustrated in color. Accompanied the exhibition of the same name; Includes an interview with the artist by Jack Rasmussen. "BG Muhn's first installation work was an ambitious and stunning series of invented "portraits" of mythical Chinese empresses. Using techniques ranging from deadpan official Chinese portrait style to a face composed of hundreds of houseflies glued to the canvas, Muhn uses the work as a metaphor to reveal the dark side of human nature.
