About This Item
Gibbs Smith, 1990. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Signed on front free endpaper by all contributors except William Kittredge: Stewart L. Udall, Patricia Limerick, Charles Wilkinson, and John Volkman (four signatures). "July 1990" is written, perhaps in a separate hand, at the top of the same page. With a laid in note from the Governor of Wyoming Mike Sullivan, on his official stationary card with a gold State of Wyoming seal, dated 11-19-91: "For Bill Schilling, We would like for you to have this book--enjoy. It speaks of a West we all know--growing pains and all." Bill Schilling was President and Founder of the Wyoming Heritage Foundation and visionary for Leadership Wyoming, a program at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Apparently he and Sullivan were also Rotary Club members together. Fine book with one minor dent to lower front board at middle. Still fine. Fine jacket in mylar. ALS.

About Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
