Printed/published/bound in Newcastle-upon-Tyne by Andrew Reid 1886.
Original publisher's three-quarter black leather over green pebble-grain cloth. Spine with raised bands and gilt Title in top and place on bottom. Top edges gilt.
Previous owner's book-plate "Rousdon, Devon." on front inner board / blank-page / Title-page "Bewick Gleanings." / signature-page "Small Paper Copy, No 96 with signature of Julia Boyd" / tissue covered frontispiece with portrait of Thomas Bewick / Title-page with decorative woodcut / dedication-page "to my father" / ix - xv preface / xvi - xxiv List of Subscribers / Part I / errata-page / life of Thomas Bewick Page 1 - 108 with numerous woodblock engravings throughout the text / Part II / Bewick Gleanings page 1 - 100 again with numerous woodblock engravings / Index-page 101 - 104 / Plates I to LIII (all 53) which are all one-sided , mostly one-page some double-page and tissue-guarded. All from the original copperplates from Thomas Bewick.Tipped-in facsimile-letter of Bewick to John-Bailey dated 23-March-1815.
