About This Item
National Astrological Journal , 1978. Hardcover First Edition (1978), unstated. Very Good+ in Near Fine DJ: Book shows indications of careful use: minimal shelving wear along the bottom edge of the white cloth-covered boards, causing faint crimping to the heel of the backstrip and a hint of fraying to the lower corner tips; a hint of foxing to the top edge of the text block; several pages have been creased at the upper corner (though the creases are very faint and are not apparent from the exterior); the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing only mild wear and minor, unobtrusive flaws. Very close to 'As New'. The DJ shows faint sunning to the red titles at the backstrip (though they remain legible if slightly blanched); the price has not been clipped; mylar-protected. Overall, remains clean, sturdy, and quite presentable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to. (10.5 x 7.85 x 0.75 inches). 256 pages. Essays and articles by Elbert Benjamine, Dr. H.L. Cornell, Robert DeLuce, Manly Palmer Hall, Count Louis Hamon (Cheiro), A.F. Heinel, Stuart Holmes, L. Edward Johndro, George E. Jordan, Jr., W.D. Jamieson, Ralph E. Kraum, D.K. Lawrence, John S. Mitchell, Ellen McCaffrey, Rita del Mar, Helene Paul, Karl Van Dyke, and more. Language: English. Weight: 1 pound, 15.8 ounces. First Edition (1978), unstated. Hardback with DJ. Edward A. Wagner was born in Philadelphia, PA. on November 15, 1906. He completed his education in Cleveland, Ohio, where his newspaper career began in 1924. While a reporter on the Cleveland Press, he worked with the late Harry Houdini on the latter's expose of spiritualist frauds and charlatan seers. Following his work on the Houdini story, he began a series of personal investigations aimed at the preparation of an expose of astrology. He learned to calculate his own horoscope and that of others and tested the various theories of the ancients regarding the influence of stars upon the earth and man. He aimed to scoff but came to respect the subject of his investigations.
