Garden City, New York: Doubleday Doran, 1943. First edition, first printing of this World War II era novel about a displaced people who become part of the European underground movement. Deep mauve linen-like cloth with black spine lettering, map endpapers, 420 pages, color illustrated dustjacket. The book is in very good condition with very light edgewear, including a tiny pinhole near the bottom of the front joint, sound text block, good hinges, clean pages with no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and has some edge rubbing, minor shelf soil to the light colored rear panel, subtly age-toned and lightly spotted spine, two short closed tears to the lower edge of the front panel, almost no paper loss.. First Edition, First Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
