Collins, 1955. Hardcover. Good/Acceptable. 1955. Reprinted. 255 pages. Illustrated dust jacket over blue cloth with gilt lettering. Black and white illustrations throughout. Light foxing and tanning to pages, hinges and gutters. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Binding is slightly loose but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped dust jacket with moderate rubbing, chipping and tearing to edges. Moderate tanning and scuffing overall.
Synopsis
NOEL STREATFEILD was born in Amberley, Sussex in 1895. Her first novel, Ballet Shoes , is her best-known book but she went on to write many well-loved books for children, including Circus Shoes which won the Carnegie Medal in 1938. In 1983 she was honoured for her contribution to children's publishing when she was awarded an OBE. She died in 1986.
