Very Good/Very Good. 1944 Knopf STATED FIRST EDITION with the author's **SIGNATURE** on an enclosed commemorative envelope postmarked June 6, 1974. Note that this postmark is the 30th anniversary of D-Day. This exceedingly RARE copy of this classic in Very Good /Very Good condition. The HB has bright yellow boards with a trace of soiling, foxing of the pages and a minute puncture in the middle of the fold along the left of the spine. There is a on the FFEP: 1) a paper square identifying the book seller "The Personal Bookshop, Boston" and 2) a dedication in pencil from one friend to another, dated March 1944. The clipped DJ has paper loss along the upper and lower spine and flap folds without loss of the lettering. of scuffing along the left side and spine. Adapted by Paul Osborn for the 1944 Broadway play and 1953 TV drama both starring Frederic March. It was then adapted to film in 1945 starring John Hodiak. The latest version was a 1967 Hallmark Hall of Fame broadcast starring John Forsythe and Murray Hamilton and directed by Mel Ferrer. **Brenbooks specializes in first edition books made into films.
