An expansive collection of poetry covering millenia, edited by the husband of Mrs. Beeton and presented in its original decorative binding. With nearly two thousand poems, including the work of King Alfred, Robert Burns, Lord Byron, Samuel Coleridge Taylor, John Donne, Mrs. Hemans, John Keats, King James VI, John Milton, John Lyly, Samuel Rogers, William Shakspeare, Jonathan Swift and William Wordsworth, to name a few.Edited by Samuel Orchart Beeton (1831-1877), an English editor, publisher and the husband of Isabella Beeton. He founded the first boys' magazine, 'Boys Own Magazine', and published numerous self-help works, including on geography, needlework, domestic animals and natural history.Undated; dated from copies held on Jisc.In the original decorative cloth binding, with gilt detail to the cover. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally a trifle worn; both hinges are starting. Extremities are bumped and the spine is worn. Ownership stamp to the front endpaper. Internally, both hinges have near failed; binding is otherwise firm. Pages are bright and clean. Good Only

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
