Boston: The Arena Publishing Co, 1897. Very Good. Wraps, 9.25 inches tall, very good, wear and soil. A magazine of progressive politics, social reform, featuring articles about poverty, slums, sweatshops, child labor, and other social problems, advocating suffrage, hosting articles on anarchism and socialism, and eventually becoming known as one of the major muckraking publications of its time. It lasted from 1889 to 1909 and over a quarter of its writers were women.

Book is tightly bound and pages are in excellent condition. Front and back covers are in very good condition, with only slight bumping of the corners on the front cover. The book would merit an excellent rating except that there is a crinkling down the center of the spine a small spot of discoloration on the spine, and 18.00 written (in pencil?) on the blank page facing the inside front cover. There are black-and-white illustrations on the frontispiece and pages 77 and 147. The top of the dust jacket is a little rough, front and back; there is a small tear at the top and another at the bottom of the dj in front; and there is a small tear at the bottom of the dj in the back.
