About This Item

New York: Four Winds Press, 1972. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, showing no marks or previous use. The brown cloth covers are fresh, with just a toiuch of wear at tips and corners. The bottom corner of the dust jacket flap is clipped, but the top corner, with the original price of $4.95, is present. The jacket is in very good condition, with one short (approx. 1 inch) tear near the top of the spine -- the attached scan will give you a better idea of how it looks. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "Everyone in Beany's family is musical. His brother Sam plays the harpsichord, his father plays the viola da gamba (a kind of cello), his mother has a beautiful singing voice, and Beany plays the recorder.... One day Beany's father brings home a special present -- a very old, very beautiful, very fine recorder made in Venice. With the instrument comes a legend" that if the recorder's player has joy in his heart, birds in trees will join in. Beany, accompanied by his cat Pomponio, heads off to the woods to test the legend.
