The author describes the book's purpose: "The eleven selected battles present a cross-section of the world's greatest war - from the Polish campaign, where blitzkrieg was born, to Okinawa, 'the last battle,' where the kamikaze portended the coming menace of the missile."
Book Club Edition.
Book - Very Good- condition. Red cloth cover with gold gilt on front and spine. Clean inside and out. Clean Text. Tight binding. The only problem noted was that the front, printed map, end papers have broken at the spine.
Dust Jacket - Fair condition. Some rubbing and light bumping. Edges have wear with small tears and chips. Largest chip is about 1/2".
