London: Henry G. Bohn, 1852. Cloth. Good Only. 7.5" by 5". Not Stated. A new revised edition of a two volume set detailing British Naval battles from 1190 until 1840. A new edition of the two volume set in original publisher's binding. This work explores the history of battles carried out by the British navy. Volume one covers british naval history between the years 1190 and 1799, including the French revolutionary war of 1793. Volume two continues with the year 1800 and ends with the operations on the coast of Syria in 1840. Volume one has 19 illustrations and 13 diagrams. Volume two is lacking a portrait of Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy on page 253. Volume two has 17 illustrations and 7 diagrams remaining.Binding from Bohn's Illustrated library with Bohn's advertisement endpapers. In publisher's original binding, from Bohn's Illustrated Library. Externally, a trifle rubbed, particularly to the extremities. Cloth is slightly bumped, mainly to extremities. Volume two is particularly bumped, with cloth starting to fore edge of boards. Marks to boards, with damp staining to to front board of both volumes. Hinges tender with cords visible to volume one. Hinges weak with cords visible to volume two. Marks and age toning to endpapers. Endpapers with Bohn's advertisements. Internally binding tender. Tide mark to frontispiece and title page of volume two. Pages generally clean. Pages have age toning and occasional spotting. Volume two lacking plate on page 253. Good Only
