Officina Poligrafica Laziale, 1951. Softcover. Good. Gorgeous mid-century history of the historic Banco di Santo Spirito. Founded by Pope Paul V in 1605, the bank was the first national bank in Europe (as the bank of the Papal States), the first public deposit bank in Rome, and the oldest continuously-operating bank in Rome until its merger in 1992. Bound in heavy stock wrappers with blind logo emboss and black lettering to front panel. Printed on handmade paper. Frontispieces of the Bull of Pope Paul V (color) and portrait of Pope Paul V (black and white). Also illustrated with photos of banknotes, maps and bank interior views. Includes complementary laid-in 4-page brochure with several photos. Scarce. Partially paginated. 36 pp. total. 12 5/5" x 9 5/8". Tight, unmarked copy with light wrinkling to edges of wrappers, corner crease to front panel and age toning to extremities of wrappers.
