BAIST'S REAL ESTATE ATLAS & SURVEYS OF DENVER, COLORADO, Complete in One Volume. Compiled and Publishedfrom Official Records, Private Plans and Actual Surveys. By G. Wm. Baist, Survey and Map Publisher. W. E. & H. V. Baist, Assistant Surveyors. Philadelphia, 1905. Dimensions: 24 inches by 19-1/2 inches. Title page, double-leaf Index Map, and 34 double-leaf plates, and 1 single-leaf plate. Original endpapers. 6 extra tipped-in maps/plats, plus 3 laid in plats.
A spectacularly detailed work exhibiting subdivisions, streets, blocks, lots, and building footprints, as well as building materials. Topographical features exhibited where pertinent. Railroads, electric street car lines, and utilities designated. The Baist's atlas' were comparable to the Sanborn Insurance maps, only not as plentiful. This tome is composed of detail, detail, detail.
Condition: heavy bond on linen; volume was well-thumbed and therefore there has been corner wear to many leaves; most leaves are complete, except for the title page (no information missing); Index Map has been conservation stabilized but has some information loss; most all other leaves have corner reinforcement on back of linen, done with museum conservation materials and have little if no paper loss; Plate 35 has had some old tape removed and then paper conservation stabilized.
A scarce and vital work for historical research of Denver, Colorado up to 1905. Price: $25,000.00. This tome's presentation and information will astound.
